Fire gives clay an almost eternal life. Long before Columbus arrived on our shores, artisans had shaped clay for work(vessels), for play, for beauty, for music, for magic (to honor harvest gods). Since pottery survives time but not tumbles, we have many small treasures to inspire us.
Construct small pots, toys, beads, whistles and totems guided by traditions from Mexico to Peru. Visit the collections of the Yale University Art Gallery. Work with a master potter raised in the shadows and traditions of the Andes. Discover the beauty of nature’s perfect gift to art.
