Before railroads laced together this continent, the Mississippi River and her tributaries were our highways of commerce and travel. Steamboats powered change. Construct an elegant River Queen with a paddle-wheel powered by elastic bands. Fill her with merchants and adventurers, performers and gamblers. Collect her cargo. Surround her with the rafts, flatboats, and canoes that complete the River’s story. Withe sketches by Mark Twain.
